The Richmond Fellowship of New South Wales (RFNSW) is a non-profit, non-government organisation without any religious affiliations. RFNSW has been providing accommodation and outreach support to people with psychiatric disability and mental health problems for over 30 years and enjoys a distinguished reputation as a leading mental health service provider in NSW.

Brumby residents get fired up

On June 18 four firemen from the Penrith Fire Station visited Brumby House, a supported accommodation service at Emu Heights managed by The Richmond Fellowship of NSW as part of its Young People’s Program.

The firefighters gave the residents interesting demonstrations about fire safety, extinguishing fires, how to evacuate the premises in case of a blaze, and how to ‘stop, drop and roll’.

A safety inspection by the firemen showed that the ageing barbeque at Brumby House needed to be replaced as it had become unsafe. The old unit has gone to the scrapheap and a new one acquired.

New smoke alarms have also been installed at Brumby House in accordance with the firemen’s recommendations.
